I recently heard the story about little girl who drank 1.5 liters of Sunny D every day. A little known aspect about Sunny D is that due to beta carotene, that much consumption turned her skin into a slight orange tint.
What we consume matters.
What websites we read. What Facebook feeds we stalk. What new stations we go to. What music we listen to, what magazines we read , and what websites we go to matter. Because what we consume will shape who we become.
Today, I spent about an hour–the length of Law & Order SUV–reading all 171 references of “Joy” in scripture. As I read, reflected, and prayed through these passages, I came across the Jeremiah passage: “Your words become to me a joy and the delight of my heart.”
As I read through God’s word…specifically His word on Joy, I can say that the Joy of the Lord became the delight of my heart.
So, what are you consuming today? Are you drowning in the fakery of Sunny D or absorbing the Delight and Joy of the Lord into your heart?
Here…enjoy this. (If your excuse is you don’t have the time, at the least read the reference of Joy in the Psalms).
I pray you discover Jesus’ promise that his “joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:11).
