Georgia Supreme Court recognizes the PC(USA) to be “hierarchical denomination.”
This is interesting to consider that from the “outside” the world recognizes that the PC(USA) has wandered from its original structure…Presbyterianism was founded in protest (ala protestantism) to the hierarchical church. By electing elders and deacons from the local congregation, Presbyterian structure was meant to be a connectional congregationalism, emerging from below; not a top down bureaucracy.
But I guess it this is an inevitable reversion…too bad our Scottish heritage fought against the monarchy.
